Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering: Emulation Drive towards the 14th National Congress of the Party

14/1/2026

The Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has launched and effectively implemented emulation movements, aiming towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Affirming research and manufacturing capabilities

Sharing with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, stated that in the festive atmosphere celebrating the Party, spring, and national renewal, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, with the decisive direction of the Party Committee and the collective leadership of the Institute and its units, in 2025, cadres, party members, officials, and employees have overcome all difficulties and exceeded the targets set by the Party Committee's Resolution and the Resolution of the Congress of Officials and Employees for 2025.

Specifically, in 2025, the Institute's production and business results reached 155% of the annual plan. Most of the Institute's centers met or exceeded their assigned plans, and some units have opened up development directions based on their research foundations, such as: the Heavy Machinery Center with jigs for electric car production lines, the Industrial Design Consulting Center with consulting services for the bauxite mining and processing industry, the Power Machinery Center with waste heat recovery systems for cement plants, the Mechanical Manufacturing Center with smart warehouses, etc.

Along with implementing the ministerial-level project: "Research on scientific and practical basis to develop mechanisms and policies for domestic design and manufacturing of equipment for gas power plants," ensuring progress and quality; the entire Institute has published 25 domestic scientific articles/reports and 33 international articles in journals and conference proceedings; and registered 4 products for intellectual property protection.

Notably, the Party Committee and administration of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering launched an emulation movement to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party. Accordingly, some typical projects and works bearing the Institute's contribution include: the project "Manufacturing and supplying hydraulic mechanical equipment for water intake gates and downstream of the plant" under the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Expansion Project. Inaugurated on December 19, 2025, this project was awarded a plaque to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress.

Also, the project "Supply of VF3 body welding jig production line at the Body workshop" of the VinFast Hai Phong factory was accepted and inaugurated on August 20, 2025. In this project, all body welding jig production lines for all car models produced by VinFast were manufactured and transferred by the Institute.

The Institute also implemented the project "Supply of coal handling system for the Quang Trach 1 thermal power plant project." Currently, the project is in its final phase for trial runs. Additionally, the Institute is preparing human resources to participate in key national programs such as: nuclear power plants, urban railways, high-speed railways, offshore wind power, etc.

Through these typical activities and projects celebrating the 14th Party Congress, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering continues to affirm its role as a leading mechanical research and manufacturing unit, accompanying the Industry and Trade sector in fulfilling tasks for the country's industrial, energy, and economic-technical infrastructure development.

Considering science and technology activities as the core focus

Practice shows that during the 2020-2025 term, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering has implemented and completed state-level and ministerial-level projects with high scientific and technological content, creating conditions to increase research capacity and improve the qualifications of the Institute's staff, laying the groundwork for the Institute to deploy applications in actual production.

Specifically, for state-level projects, the Institute has implemented and completed state-level acceptance of the project "Research, design, manufacture, and commissioning of equipment for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to approximately 600MW."

In addition, the Institute completed and obtained acceptance for 3 projects and 10 regular tasks at the ministerial level; and is preparing to implement 5 projects under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Research results from these projects have been applied in actual production, creating a foundation for the Institute to participate in bidding and construction of key state projects, while also enhancing the research capacity of the Institute's staff.

On average each year, the Institute deploys and applies hundreds of economic contracts and research projects in areas such as project management, design consulting, equipment supply for synchronous lines in thermal power, hydropower, solar power, mining, and spare parts supply for thermal power, cement, coal, paper, environmental plants, naval submarine repair equipment, automobiles, motorcycles, etc.

"To achieve these successes, besides the tireless efforts of the cadres, party members, officials, and employees within the Institute, the Institute's Party Committee has always received close direction from the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade" - Dr. Phan Dang Phong emphasized.

The Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering also affirmed that the Institute always identifies and considers science and technology activities as the core focus, with economic activities based on scientific and technological activities, linking science and technology activities with the country's socio-economic programs to ensure the Institute's competitive advantage and reputation in the market.

For the 2026-2030 period, the Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering will continue to implement the Institute's development strategy until 2035, with a vision to 2050, aiming to become a leading technology research and deployment organization in Vietnam, with regional and international prestige in the field of mechanical engineering and automation.

The Institute will be the core of the sector's innovation ecosystem, capable of mastering core technologies, designing, manufacturing, and acting as the EPC/EPCM general contractor for complex, synchronous equipment systems. At the same time, it will serve as a reliable strategic advisory body for the Party, the Government, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on national industrial development policies.

In 2026, the Institute strives to implement major contracts effectively from the outset; complete scientific and technological projects at all levels on schedule and with quality assurance; maintain welfare benefits for cadres and employees at a level equal to or higher than in 2025. It will continue to promote the results of doctoral training and other training activities towards enhancing the research capacity of the Institute's officials...

2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress and the Resolutions of Party Committees at all levels. The Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering will strive to effectively implement the Resolutions of the Party and the State, aiming to achieve the set goals and ensure the Institute's sustainable development according to the development strategy until 2035, with a vision to 2050.
