On July 2, 2019, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the Vietnam Association of Mechanical Engineering Enterprises, the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Industry and Trade), and the Department of Science and Technology for Economic-Technical Sectors (Ministry of Science and Technology) co-chaired the Workshop for the Science and Technology Project “Research on design, manufacture, and commissioning of auxiliary equipment systems for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to approximately 600MW”.
Attending the workshop were leaders from the Department of Science and Technology; the Department of Science and Technology for Economic-Technical Sectors; the Industry Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade); the Electricity and Renewable Energy Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade); representatives of state management agencies; Vietnam Electricity Group; enterprises; consulting companies; thermal power plants; experts; scientists; and press agencies who attended and covered the workshop.
The workshop consisted of three specialized sub-committees and a plenary session. Dr. Phan Đăng Phong, Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, stated: the workshop was an opportunity for enterprises, management agencies, and scientists to share valuable experiences regarding the localization of systems/equipment for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to approximately 600MW. Equipment localization is considered an important solution to promote the development of the domestic mechanical manufacturing industry and to master new technologies. In recent times, enterprises have been making every effort to enhance their capacity to design and manufacture equipment for thermal power plants, as well as overcome difficulties to seek work and application venues for research results, achieving some noteworthy outcomes.
The leaders of the Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Science and Technology for Economic-Technical Sectors highly appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of domestic mechanical enterprises, project principal investigators, experts, and scientists in implementing the project's topics, and committed to accompanying enterprises, scientists, and managers in removing difficulties and barriers to achieve the goal of gradually mastering technology and moving towards full localization of equipment in coal-fired thermal power plants.
