On June 16, 2026, the Key Laboratory of Welding Technology and Surface Treatment - National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, in coordination with the Vietnam Association for Non-Destructive Testing (VANDT), solemnly held the Opening Ceremony for Level I and Level II Non-Destructive Testing Technician training courses. The event marked an important step forward in the strategy to develop high-quality NDT human resources, aiming to meet international standards.
Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, were Dr. Vu Van Khoa - Deputy Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Quy - Director of the Key Laboratory of Welding Technology and Surface Treatment, and Director of the Training Center. On behalf of VANDT, there was Mr. Bui Dang Hoa - Member of the Standing Committee. The ceremony was also attended by lecturers Dr. Nguyen Duc Thang, Dr. Le Tien Quan, and all students participating in the course.
In the context of increasingly fierce global competition, product quality has become a key factor for manufacturing enterprises, especially in the field of manufacturing equipment and structures with high technical requirements. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) plays an important role in detecting defects in materials and products without affecting the structure or operational capability of the product during manufacturing as well as operation and exploitation.
Along with the strong development of Vietnam's economy and a series of key projects such as high-speed railways, aviation, renewable energy, nuclear power plants, precision machinery manufacturing, etc., the demand for a team of NDT technicians meeting international standards is becoming increasingly urgent. However, domestic human resources are still limited in both quantity and professional qualifications.
In order to meet the requirements of integration and the standards of the International Committee for Non-Destructive Testing (ICNDT), VANDT has been implementing many programs to improve the quality of NDT personnel. Organizing training courses at the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering is a step in the right direction, contributing to building a team of competent technicians, meeting the needs of domestic and international industries.
After completing the course and achieving good results, students will continue to accumulate practical experience, participate in non-destructive testing activities, and gradually meet the conditions to be granted international certificates, expanding career opportunities and contributing to the development of the industry.
Representing VANDT, Mr. Bui Dang Hoa expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Welding Technology and Surface Treatment for their close and effective coordination in organizing the training courses. He expressed his hope that the cooperation between the two units will continue to be strengthened in the coming time.
Delivering a directive speech, Deputy Director Vu Van Khoa emphasized the requirement to train a team of NDT technicians with solid professional qualifications, proficient in both theory and practice. He also shared information about key national projects and experiences from developed countries, while expressing his hope that the students after the course will become a core force, actively contributing to the development of the country in the new period. He expressed confidence that the quality and reputation of the certificates issued will be increasingly affirmed through practice.
