Two scientific research projects on manufacturing auxiliary equipment for coal-fired thermal power plants have been accepted/validated.

4/10/2022

On the afternoon of October 4, at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State-level Acceptance Council approved two scientific projects on manufacturing auxiliary equipment for coal-fired thermal power plants.

Specifically, the project “Research on design, manufacturing and commissioning of flue gas exhaust system for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW” was implemented by Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation (LILAMA).

Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, spoke at the project acceptance session

The project “Research, design, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning of coal handling and conveying system for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW” was implemented by the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (NARIME).

These two projects are part of the Science and Technology Project science and technology “Research, design, manufacturing and commissioning of several auxiliary equipment systems for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW”.

In particular, the objective of the project “Research on design, manufacturing and commissioning of flue gas exhaust system for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW” is to gradually master the research and design of flue gas exhaust system for coal-fired thermal power plants, increasing the localization rate.

At the same time, master the manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance process of the coal-fired thermal power plant flue gas exhaust system; flexibly change and develop to apply scientific and technological research results to other similar projects; train a team of specialized scientific and technical staff in consulting, design, manufacturing, operation and management of flue gas exhaust systems for coal-fired thermal power plants.

The project “Research, design, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning of coal handling and conveying system for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW” aims to master the design and manufacturing technology of coal handling and conveying system for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600 MW.

Especially, manufacturing, installing and commissioning 1 coal handling and conveying system for a coal-fired thermal power plant with unit capacity up to about 600 MW. Along with that, improving the scientific and technical knowledge, technology, management, consulting, operation… for domestic scientific and technical staff.

Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, said that the demand for equipment supply for thermal power plants in Vietnam from now to 2025 is very large. Through the implementation of the projects, the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in design and manufacturing of equipment and equipment lines for thermal power plants will be enhanced. Besides, enhancing design and project management capacity through receiving design copyright transfer and project implementation by domestic enterprises.

On the other hand, contributing to proactiveness in replacing equipment and spare parts, minimizing the hiring of foreign experts; increasing product competitiveness due to cost reduction while quality remains equivalent to imported products.

“The results achieved by the project have demonstrated the capability of domestic units with increasingly improved scientific and technical staff and qualifications, who are always striving to learn new technologies and are able to undertake similar complex projects for the country's economic development programs in the coming time” - Dr. Phan Dang Phong affirmed.

At the acceptance session, the Council members assessed that the projects met requirements, fully completed in terms of quantity, quality, and types of products ordered by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
