Abstract: Currently, Vietnam has over 40 coal-fired thermal power plants, with more than 80 boilers. To ensure continuous water supply for the boilers, each boiler is equipped with 3 pumps. Thus, the total number of feedwater pumps is about 240 units. At present, all feedwater pumps must be imported, mainly from the United States and some other countries, at a cost of approximately USD 1,000,000 per set and a lead time of 6 to 8 months. When a failure occurs in one of the critical components or parts, the feedwater pump must be stopped, and the boiler also has to cease operation. This causes significant losses to the power plant and national electricity output. Researching the design of feedwater pump components for domestic machine restoration is an urgent issue. A group of scientific staff from the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Ministry of Industry and Trade, has carried out restoration work and put the machine back into operation in a timely manner, achieving performance indicators equivalent to the original.
