Defense information for the Institute-level doctoral thesis of doctoral candidate Le Thi Phuong Thao

On the morning of November 22, 2025, in Meeting Room P209 at the Headquarters of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute organized the Institute-level doctoral thesis defense ceremony for PhD candidate (NCS) Le Thi Phuong Thao, currently a lecturer at the University of Industrial Technology - Thai Nguyen University:

 

  • Topic title: “Study on the influence of some technological parameters and graphite electrode type on productivity and quality during electrical discharge machining of external cylindrical surface of 90CrSi steel parts”
  • Field of training: Mechanical Engineering - Code: 9520103
  • Supervisory team: Dr. Vu Trung Tuyen and Dr. Nguyen Thi Quoc Dung

The doctoral thesis evaluation committee consisted of 7 members: Chairman of the Committee was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Quy (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); Secretary of the Committee: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Duy Trung (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); 3 Referee members: Prof. Dr. Tran Van Dich (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Duc Trung (Hanoi University of Industry), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Minh Hung (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); 2 Committee members: Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Pi (Thai Nguyen University of Industrial Technology) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Hien (University of Transport and Communications).

 

Attending the thesis defense ceremony, from Thai Nguyen University of Industrial Technology were Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Pi - Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Anh Tung - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, in addition to educators and scientists from inside and outside the Institute, many colleagues, family, and friends of the PhD candidate. 

 

The evaluation result of the committee: the quality and format of the thesis fully meet the requirements for a doctoral thesis in Mechanical Engineering as stipulated by the Ministry of Education & Training and the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering. 100% of the committee members approved, including 4/7 excellent votes. The results of the thesis have been published in 4 international papers/reports and 1 domestic paper, including 1 paper in the Scopus Q2 list, 2 papers in the Q4 list. In addition, there are 2 papers accepted for publication in the Q4 list.

 

The Institute-level doctoral thesis defense ceremony of PhD candidate Le Thi Phuong Thao concluded successfully.
