02/11/2023

The National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering plans to organize an Institute-level doctoral thesis evaluation committee for doctoral candidate Nguyen Anh Tung in early December 2023. The Institute hereby publishes the information on the candidate's doctoral thesis as follows:

Full name of doctoral candidate: Nguyen Anh Tung

Academic supervisors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Got

Field: Mechanical Engineering - Code: 9520103

Training institution: National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering - Ministry of Industry and Trade

Thesis title: "Study on the influence of some main parameters on the durability of the discharge electrode frame of electrostatic precipitators"

Summary of new conclusions of the thesis

1. Scientific significance:

- Through experiments on static models and practical models of the filter chamber of horizontal electrostatic precipitators (ESP), optimization of three parameters: hammer mass (m), drop height (h), and inlet dust concentration (η) of the filter chamber to meet the rapping acceleration (a) of the discharge electrode frame and impact force (F) of the hammer;

- Through experiments on the discharge electrode model using fatigue testing of scaled specimens, an experimental fatigue curve was constructed based on the theory of B. P. Kogaiev, showing the relationship between fatigue strength (σm) and service life in cycles (N).

2. Practical significance

- The research results can be applied to design discharge electrode frames for the filter chamber of horizontal ESPs with force distribution at different load positions on the discharge electrode frame and for ESPs of different capacities.

- The research results can also be used as reference material in teaching and research.

3. New contributions of the thesis

- Through experiments on static models combined with practical models of the filter chamber of the same capacity for horizontal ESPs, optimization of three parameters: hammer mass (m), drop height (h), and inlet dust concentration (η) of the filter chamber to meet the output criteria of rapping acceleration (a) and hammer impact force (F), respectively;

- Through experiments on static models and practical models of the same capacity for the dust filter chamber, an experimental fatigue curve was constructed based on the theory of the relationship between fatigue strength (σm) and service life (N) of the discharge electrode frame.
