In recent years, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has focused on strengthening research, design, and manufacturing of equipment in the mechanical engineering field; promoting consulting, design, technology transfer, and equipment lines in industrial sectors such as cement, hydropower, thermal power, mineral mining and processing, automation, new and renewable energy, etc. At the same time, with a team of highly skilled and experienced experts and scientists, the Institute has effectively performed advisory and consultancy work on mechanisms and policies for the Government regarding the localization strategy in the mechanical manufacturing sector.

On May 19, Member of the Politburo and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc, together with Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu, chaired a working session with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and several other ministries and sectors on the Draft Decree detailing certain articles and measures to organize and guide the implementation of the National Assembly's Resolution No. 253/2025/QH15 on mechanisms and policies for national energy development in the period 2026-2030.
