From designing and manufacturing equipment lines and automotive welding jigs, Vietnamese engineers have raised the localization rate and exported equipment lines worth tens of millions of USD to the international market. In late August 2026, accompanying the engineers of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Ministry of Industry and Trade), we were present at the experimental production workshop for completing and applying the Institute's scientific and technological research results in the automotive field at Dong Phu Yen Industrial Cluster, Phu Nghia Commune, Hanoi.

Pursuant to Dispatch No. 72-TrT/ĐUB convening a Conference issued by the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on August 26, 2026, and Plan No. 60-KH/ĐUB dated August 26, 2026 of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on organizing a conference for research, study, thorough understanding, and implementation of certain Resolutions and Directives of the Politburo.

The National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Tech Data Advanced Solutions (Vietnam) recently organized a Seminar on "Application of Autodesk Solutions in Mechanical Design and Transport Infrastructure Construction" to promote knowledge sharing, business connectivity, and the application of digital technology in Vietnam's mechanical engineering sector.

On July 20, 2025, the Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering solemnly held a ceremony to present the 30-year Party membership badge awarded by the Party Committee of the Government to Comrade Nguyen Ha An, a member of the Co Dien Thuy Party Cell under the Party Committee of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

On July 4, 2026, with the approval of the Institute's leadership board, the Trade Union in coordination with the Institute's Youth Union successfully organized a Pickleball tournament to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the founding of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (July 6, 1962 – July 6, 2026). This marks the first time this sport has been introduced into the annual sports system for the Institute's officials, employees, and workers. The tournament brought together 45 athletes competing, including 30 officials and engineers from the Institute and 15 guests from BIDV Bank (Hanoi Branch) and GP Holdings Group.

Recently, on June 12, 2026, the annual conference of the Club of Institutes under the Ministry of Industry and Trade was successfully held. This year, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (NARIME) was honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of organizing this important event. Comrade Phan Đăng Phong – Director of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Head of the Club – directly chaired the conference.

Speaking with a reporter from the Industry and Trade Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Director of the Heavy Mechanical Center, National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (Ministry of Industry and Trade), stated that in the development process of Vietnam's automotive industry, mastering core technology lines — especially body welding lines, painting lines, and assembly lines — is becoming a vital requirement that determines the industry's self-reliance capacity, competitiveness, and depth of localization.

Based on a synthesis of available data from the General Statistics Office and foreign trade data provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the production scale of the entire mechanical engineering industry has grown rapidly in the period 2018–2025. Total mechanical engineering production value increased from approximately 1,626.3 trillion VND (in 2018) to approximately 3,225.5 trillion VND (in 2025), equivalent to nearly 2.0 times; the average growth rate is estimated at approximately 10.3% per year.
