On the afternoon of July 17, 2020, a working delegation from the Department of Science and Technology – Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Director Tran Viet Hoa, worked with the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (NARIME) on the implementation of science and technology (S&T) tasks in the recent period and some S&T orientations of the Institute in the coming time.
Attending the meeting, on the side of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) were Mr. Tran Viet Hoa – Director, Mr. Dao Trong Cuong – Deputy Director, along with specialists from the DOST; on the side of NARIME were Mr. Phan Dang Phong – President, Mr. Vu Van Khoa – Vice President, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ha – Vice President, along with Heads of functional units and several S&T project principal investigators of the Institute.
On behalf of the Institute, Mr. Vu Van Khoa presented a summary report on the implementation of the Institute's S&T tasks in the recent period and the orientations for its S&T activities in the coming period.
Mr. Phan Dang Phong affirmed: The support from the DOST to the Institute through S&T tasks has enabled the Institute to successfully deploy and apply them in many works, projects, and high-value economic contracts, stemming from the results of the Institute's S&T activities. At the same time, the President reported to the DOST on the Institute's main orientations towards 2025 and its vision to 2035, which are:
– Developing intelligent warehouse systems applied in industrial storage for the supporting industry, a field with high S&T content that catches up with the Industry 4.0 trend;
– Fully mastering bauxite processing technology;
– Establishing float and mooring systems for solar power plants as the Institute's traditional products;
– Synchronously manufacturing at least four items under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 1791, namely Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) systems, Ash & Slag Handling Systems (AHS), Coal Handling Systems (CHS), Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) systems for thermal power plants, and these will also be the Institute's traditional products;
– Along with maintaining its role in designing and manufacturing traditional equipment for the cement, chemical, hydropower, oil & gas, and mining industries, etc.;
– Continuing to maintain and develop research and production cooperation with domestic and international economic corporations and general companies to enhance consulting, design, technology transfer, and equipment and spare parts manufacturing activities... while becoming a reputable domestic EPC and EPCM contractor.
At the meeting, the President expressed his hope to continue receiving the attention and facilitation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the DOST in research, application, and S&T transfer activities, and for them to accompany the Institute in researching and deploying S&T topics and projects into practical works and projects.
After listening and exchanging with the Institute, Director Tran Viet Hoa highly appreciated and acknowledged the Institute's achievements in the recent period, as well as its completion of assigned ministerial and state-level S&T tasks. The Director assessed that the Institute's scientific research activities, originating from practical needs, have given the Institute a competitive advantage in providing S&T services and securing large work scopes that generate billions of VND in revenue for the Institute. The Institute's orientations for the coming period are also in line with social trends and built on the Institute's strengths. He also promised to continue accompanying the Institute in implementing and deploying ministerial and state-level S&T topics and projects into practice.
