Abstract: This paper presents the research results on fabricating an NBR rubber coating on pump casings. There are three process parameters for fabricating the NBR rubber coating on steel substrate: curing temperature 135°C, pressure applied to the rubber surface 30 kgf/cm2, and curing time 30 minutes. The mechanical properties of the obtained rubber coating include: tensile strength 11.8 MPa; elongation at break 530%; residual elongation 33.2%; hardness 66 ShoreA; abrasion resistance 1.78 cm3 / 1.61 km; peel strength 7.5 MPa; and shear strength 18.8 MPa. The obtained results show the potential for applying this technological solution to effectively protect sand pumps and mineral slurry pumps against corrosion.
