On the morning of January 10, 2024, at Meeting Room P.209, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering held a meeting to summarize training activities for 2023, combined with a ceremony to award doctoral degrees and hand over Decisions recognizing new doctoral candidates.

Attending the ceremony were Dr. Phan Dang Phong, Director; Dr. Vu Van Khoa, Deputy Director; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Quy, Director of the Training Center; heads of functional departments; educators, scientists, and doctoral candidates of the Institute. Guests also included Prof. Dr. Vu Ngoc Pi, Vice Rector of the University of Industrial Technology – Thai Nguyen University, and several educators who have participated in doctoral training at the Institute for many years.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thu Quy, representing the Training Center, presented the summary report on the work of 2023. Accordingly, the Institute is currently managing 22 doctoral candidates; in 2023, 2 doctoral candidates withdrew; 19 thesis evaluation councils at various levels were organized, including 6 at the Institute level; 4 monographs and 39 domestic and international scientific articles/reports were published; and 2 science and technology awards were received.

In addition to doctoral training, over the past year the Institute also organized in-depth training courses on gas power plants and training for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technicians at Level 1 and Level 2, as well as training and organizing skill assessments for welders (1-2 times per month).

The scientists attending the meeting contributed opinions to the 2023 summary report, discussed directions and tasks for 2024, and shared experiences, analyzing the difficulties and advantages of the Training Center over the past year.

Director Dr. Phan Dang Phong spoke, exchanged views, responded to the opinions of the scientists attending the meeting, and provided guidance and set key tasks for training in 2024 and subsequent years.

Next, Director Dr. Phan Dang Phong awarded doctoral degrees to two new PhDs in 2023: Dr. Ngo Xuan Cuong, currently working at the Key Laboratory of Welding Technology and Surface Treatment, and Dr. Bui Van Khoan, a lecturer at Hung Yen University of Technology and Education.

Deputy Director Vu Van Khoa handed over the Decisions recognizing doctoral candidates for the 2023 intake to three new candidates: Mr. Doan Van Minh, Mr. Nguyen Truong Quang, and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Huynh.

The meeting to summarize training activities for 2023, the doctoral degree award ceremony, and the handover of Decisions recognizing doctoral candidates were held solemnly and concluded successfully.
