On the afternoon of July 18, 2026, at meeting room P209, Headquarters of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the Institute held the Institute-level doctoral thesis defense ceremony for PhD candidate (NCS) Tran Si Kien, currently working at the Mechanical Manufacturing Center of the Institute:

• Topic: Dynamics and optimal motion control of industrial manipulators based on Pontryagin's maximum principle.
• Training discipline: Mechanical Engineering - Code: 9520103
• Supervisors: Dr. Phan Dang Phong and Prof. Dr.Sc. Do Sanh

The doctoral thesis evaluation committee consisted of 7 members: Chairman of the Committee was Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Chi Sang (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); Secretary of the Committee: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dao Duy Trung (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); 3 reviewers: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Hoang (Hanoi University of Science and Technology), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Van Truong (Hanoi University of Industry), Assoc.Prof.Dr. Hoang Van Got (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering); 2 members: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Thu Quy (National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering) and Prof.Dr. Vu Ngoc Pi (School of Industrial Engineering - Thai Nguyen University).

Attending the thesis defense ceremony, on behalf of the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, there was Dr. Phan Dang Phong - Director of the Institute, also the scientific supervisor of the PhD candidate. Guests also included many educators, scientists from inside and outside the Institute, many colleagues, family, and friends of the PhD candidate. 

The Committee's evaluation results: the quality and format of the thesis fully met the requirements for a doctoral thesis in Mechanical Engineering according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education & Training and the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering, with 100% of the attending committee members in favor. The results of the thesis have been published in 2 Scopus Q4-indexed articles and 3 articles presented at national scientific conferences.
