At the same time, it opened new development directions in the fields of solar power, renewable energy, smart warehouses, chemical equipment... building reputation and brand with domestic and international customers.
Regarding the implementation of State-level projects, in 2022, the Institute completed and received State-level acceptance of the Science and Technology Project “Research, design, manufacture and put into operation some auxiliary equipment systems for coal-fired thermal power plants with unit capacity up to about 600MW”.
Specifically, by the end of the Project: Topic 01 on coal conveying and supply system chaired by Dr. Phan Dang Phong (Director of NARIME) achieved excellent results; 7/12 topics passed acceptance; 6 topics with Type I science and technology products are being commercially operated at thermal power plants (Song Hau 1, Thai Binh 1), Son La hydropower plant…
In addition, the Institute accepted at the base level and Ministry level the project “Research on design and manufacture of bellows expansion joints made of elastic alloy steel with large size from 2m to 5m working in high temperature and pressure environment to supply for thermal power plants”.
Furthermore, the Institute accepted the Institute-level science and technology project: Research, design and manufacture of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) suitable for conditions in Vietnam. The project has been implemented since 2021 and has been effectively applied at LIX Detergent Company - Vietnam Chemical Group.
The project researched, designed and mastered AGV technology; researched the application of navigation systems for AGVs in warehouse environments in Vietnam; researched and applied control software for AGVs, while contributing to training and fostering scientific and technological staff in the field of robotics and automation, and opening up new work areas in the coming years.
Notably, the Key Laboratory of Welding and Surface Treatment Technology under the Institute is co-author of 01 patent on “Process for treating thermal spray coating by infiltration with PTFE under ultrasonic vibration conditions” and received acceptance of 01 patent application on “Process for manufacturing aluminum-magnesium alloy coating containing aluminum oxide nanoparticles for corrosion protection of carbon steel, and carbon steel with anti-corrosion coating produced by this process”…

Many science and technology products implemented by the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering are being commercially operated at thermal power plants
In a general assessment of the Institute's activities in 2022, Mr. Phan Huu Thang emphasized that the Institute's development of science and technology projects at all levels closely followed the State's major economic programs and the Institute's work orientations such as: coal thermal power equipment, solar power, technology and production lines for bauxite-alumina, industrial waste treatment; manufacturing new or replacing/restoring equipment in cement, chemical industries…
The quality of the specialized topics and projects accepted in 2022 were all assessed as meeting requirements. During implementation, the Institute organized close supervision, ensuring progress, quality, and registered content in accordance with state and Institute procedures and regulations.
“The Institute always identifies and considers scientific and technological activities as the core, and the effectiveness of economic activities must be based on the results of scientific and technological activities. The Institute continues to advocate linking scientific and technological activities with the country's key socio-economic programs” - Mr. Phan Huu Thang said.
Accordingly, in 2023, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering will continue to conduct deeper research in the fields of gas thermal power, new energy, renewable energy, and automation to ensure the Institute has a competitive advantage in technology, while building its reputation in the market and concentrating resources on large projects.
In addition, propose State-level and Ministry-level science and technology projects for the period 2023-2030 with practical and effective objectives according to the actual needs of domestic and foreign industries.
