Since the beginning of 2020, amid the complex developments of the Covid-19 pandemic in Vietnam, the Prime Minister and the Chairpersons of the People's Committees of provinces and cities nationwide have issued Directives and Urgent Telegrams to direct the implementation of urgent measures for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic nationwide and in provinces and cities.
The National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering has its headquarters in Hanoi and a Branch Institute in Ho Chi Minh City, two major cities that are the cultural, political, social, and economic centers of the country, and are areas with a consistently high risk of pandemic outbreaks.
Therefore, in compliance with the directives of the Government, Hanoi City, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering has implemented decisive solutions appropriate to the conditions and operational nature of the Institute, aiming to achieve the dual goal of both combating the pandemic and striving to fulfill targets for production, business, and the welfare of its officials and employees.
In early 2020, the Institute established a Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, headed by a member of the Institute's Leadership. The Steering Committee organized the implementation of directives from the Party, the Government, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Covid-19 prevention and control, developed plans, and deployed pandemic prevention and control measures appropriate to each period at the Institute; it disseminated information to each official and employee to raise awareness of the dangerous nature and serious harm of the pandemic; and enhanced the awareness and responsibility of officials, Party members, civil servants, public employees, and workers towards themselves, their families, their agencies, and the community.
The fundamental solutions the Institute has implemented recently include issuing a Plan for Maintaining Continuous Business Operations in Response to the Covid-19 Pandemic; strictly implementing urgent measures for Covid-19 prevention and control according to Directive No. 15/CT-TTg and Directive No. 16/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister, as well as directives from the Ministry of Health, the Hanoi City People's Committee, and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. A fundamental, long-term solution is that the Institute proactively sought vaccine sources, and nearly 90% of eligible officials, employees, and workers have been vaccinated.
In the spirit of joining hands with the whole country in pandemic prevention and control, and responding to the call of the Party and the Government, the Institute contributed 350 million VND to the Covid-19 Prevention and Control Fund (via Hospital E), and also provided material support including 2,000 medical masks and 200 sets of medical protective clothing to the delegation of officials, doctors, and nurses from Hospital E who were deployed to strengthen pandemic control efforts in Ho Chi Minh City in July 2021.

Institute Director Phan Dang Phong presents Hospital E with 2,000 medical masks and 200 sets of medical protective clothing for the delegation of officials, doctors, and nurses from Hospital E deployed to strengthen pandemic control efforts in Ho Chi Minh City in July 2021.
Thanks to the Institute's proactive and active efforts in Covid-19 prevention and control, none of the Institute's officials, employees, or workers were infected with Covid-19, all quality objectives were achieved as planned, and the livelihoods and employment of workers were ensured.
