Abstract: Self-aligning elastic membrane plates are core components in the hydrostatic load balancing system of thrust bearings in large-scale hydroelectric power plants. During operation, these components must withstand very large axial loads and high hydraulic pressure, requiring the manufacturing material to have superior mechanical properties, high fatigue strength, as well as corrosion resistance in hydraulic oil environments. The research focuses on the analysis and selection of materials; optimization of sheet metal forming technology using multi-stage drawing process for austenitic stainless steel SUS 304; and simultaneously developing an on-site static load testing procedure with stringent technical requirements to confirm the performance and reliability of the product. The research results not only solve the problem of localizing a strategic spare part, reducing dependence on imported equipment, but also open prospects for applying this technology to other hydroelectric power plants, contributing to ensuring energy security and enhancing domestic precision mechanical engineering capabilities.
