In the field of hydropower, the National Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering has the following capabilities and experience:

– Design and supply of hydro-mechanical equipment for over 18 hydropower projects in the country, including the two largest projects in Vietnam: Lai Chau Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 1200 MW and Son La Hydropower Plant with a capacity of 2400 MW.

– Typical products NARIME has supplied include:

+ Surface spillway radial gates of various types, of which the largest dimensions executed are 14.5m x 20.5m x 20m;

+ Deep discharge radial gates with highest design head of 74m;

+ Penstocks, in which the highest design head executed is 938.2m for the Da Nhim Hydropower Plant expansion;

+ Service gates of various types, the largest dimensions executed are 6.25m x 10.54m x 77.8m;

+ Sliding gates of various types;

+ Trash racks synchronized with trash raking equipment;

+ Gantry cranes of various types for lifting gates and trash racks;

+ Machine hall cranes, of which the largest capacity designed is 450 tons;

+ Cylinders synchronized with hydraulic power units;

+ Electrical equipment, central control, local control;

+ Other accompanying synchronous equipment;

– Execute integration of electrical and automation systems for hydropower projects.
